I headed away from the city lights after the Aberdeen Astronomical Society meeting, although I had to chase clouds to find a good spot near Dunecht. Observed a lovely auroral curtain low in the north from around 10:30pm local time which changed slowly with the occasional tall and sharp ray. Activity appeared to be fading, but then increased quickly from the west around 11:30pm, with a huge and bright aurora curtain from low in the north up to around 70 degrees, stretching across 90 degrees of horizon, filled with many sharp, bright and tall rays, with a red glow above the green curtain.
