First saw short duration activity with the Scottish Astronomy weekend activities at Mills Observatory in Dundee around 08:30UT on the 7th Sept. Distinctly purple/violet colour visible even in light polluted skies. Strong auroral glow in the north persisted during our return travel north, between showers of rain! Upon return to Aberdeen, I headed west and observed strong aurora from 23:00UT to 03:00UT (4am local time!) with varying cloud interference and lightning in the distance.
